Shure 7b MicIn 2020 many people are getting into the Audio Book Narration Profession. The requirements concerning the ACX, as well as other Audio Book distributors are both extensive as well as easy to accomplish if you can grasp the basic concepts of Audio Requirements.

Hello, my name is Dana and I have been recording the “Spoken Word” for 45 years. I have analyzed close to 10,000 Podcast files using the recommended standards set forth by the Audio Engineering Society, commonly referred to as the AES.

I am also the owner of D & L Studio LLC. We are located just outside of a little town called Montross, in a little subdivision called Glebe Harbor. Please keep in mind that meeting the requirements concerning the ACX is much more complex then Podcasting will ever be! With Podcasting, there are only recommendations. With the ACX, they are requirements. If you do not meet them, you will be rejected! I am an active Narrator with the ACX.

Audio is fun! Mixing and mastering is really quite simple when it comes to the spoken word. STAY OFF EBAY looking for cheap mics. In the last 12 months they have been flooded with counterfeit brand name mics. It has gotten so bad that the real manufactures of these products are now listing this statement on their official sites as well! One last thing, do what Missy should have done, Get Your Own Mic & have fun!

What others have to say:

Dana is helping me improve my home voice over studio setup and introducing me to equipment and programs which will make my audio quality sound top notch. He is an excellent teacher and assists me via Zoom. He is
quick to respond to emails and eager to help. Dana is a pleasure to work with and I would recommend his services to anyone who needs help with setting up their studio and improving their audio quality.

Very seldom do I come across someone who is seeking advice, that has already demonstrated the expertise of having a reputation in the Voice Over/Acting profession. Chip is one of those guys! After doing a single Zoom call, Chip took his career to new heights by being able to master his own audio to meet the ACX requirements. This is an email Chip sent to me concerning anyone else looking for advice concerning the ACX and Reaper.

“If you have questions about using Reaper for ACX, Dana is a wealth of no-nonsense answers. I was having issues meeting ACX technical requirements in Reaper and had no one to ask. After watching a few of his videos, I reached out for more guidance. Dana not only replied but took time to simplify Reaper’s toolbox for voice narration and offered guidance on the nuances of performance, business and need for consistency when booking work through ACX. Thank you, Brother, for helping me out of the weeds.

“In spite of the fact that my everyday work is an audio engineering for the National Theater (Wikipedia) in my country (Bosnia), this Podcasting Course has been the most educational and most valuable time ever spent in my life. I was blown away by simple and easy-to-comprehend methods that really open up a whole new world when recording and processing our audio files. National Theater Website“. I wish you all the best and keep up the good work  Dana! God bless you. Sani Terzic.

In addition to his deep knowledge of the audio industry and ways to professionally produce audiobooks and voice-overs, everything he teaches is encapsulated into a bigger picture, he has the ability to provide a full understanding of each topic. Dana has been (and he still is) crucial for my knowledge path regarding audiobook production. He taught me the correct workflow regarding audiobook production, starting from audio basics, optimizing the recording site, passing through editing strategies and final product optimization, for a professional result. Everything with easy words, examples and kindness. Marco Massai.

I own a small real estate company in Maine. I have been wanting to start a podcast about our services. After searching, reading and watching videos, I gave up on the idea. I follow someone who follows Dana on Twitter. I came to his free podcasting page and WOW! I signed up. After 3, 2hr face to face sessions, everything he said would happen, happened. Bottom line, Dana is a man of his word and I am grateful to have been his student. Linda K.

Dana is very knowledgeable about “All- Things” Podcasting. He is tech-savvy and offers creative tips and techniques. He instructed me on some ways to improve the quality of some of my sound recordings by using my iPhone. Dana’s experience and skill in this area are an asset to anyone looking to use his services. If you are looking for a Podcast Specialist……. look no further than Dana! – Highly Recommend! Kat Marquis, Esq.

I work for a Christian nonprofit ministry to the military, and one of our newest initiatives is to get a podcast up and running in order to provide an encouraging word and to equip our men and women in uniform. Podcasting is a little more complex than just hooking up a mic and pressing record. Dana has been invaluable in filling in those gaps, from equipment set up to audio editing and podcasting best practices. I know I speak for my team members when I say: Thank you, Dana! God bless.
